Mountain pepper or Litsea cubeba is a native plant and grows abundantly in the northern mountainous regions of Vietnam, such as Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Dien Bien provinces. The small, pepper-like green round fruits turn into dark purple and emit a delightful fragrance when ripe.
Mountain pepper essential oil is extracted from the fruit, with a fresh, invigorating aroma and a lemon-like note, similar to lemongrass essential oil. The refreshing scent of mountain pepper essential oil helps create a pleasant atmosphere, ease tension, and improve mood. In traditional Vietnamese medicine, mountain pepper has also been used for its healing properties, including helping with digestive issues and easing respiratory discomfort.
