The ‘Ultimate Driving’ Sunglasses unite the racing heritage of Team Ikuzawa with the exceptional craftsmanship of Japanese eyewear atelier Native Sons. 

The frames are named ‘Tetsu’ in tribute to Tetsu Ikuzawa, the legendary Japanese racing driver and founder of Team Ikuzawa. Every element has been considered to redefinefunctional style for both drivers and riders. From the frame geometry to the lens performance, the design features straight temples for ease of wear with a helmet.

“I spent months researching the best driving eyewear and lens technology,” explains Mai Ikuzawa. “So much of what I found felt formulaic. Aviators have become the standard, but they miss the emotional and visual references I care about. I drew inspiration from the eyewear worn by drivers like Ayrton Senna, Keke Rosberg, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Barry Sheene, François Cevert, as well as icons like Françoise Hardy and Nigo. From the 1960s to the early 2000s, these people expressed style that was effortlessly personal yet deeply informed by performance.”“When I met Tommy Ogara, CEO and Creative director of Native Sons, one of the most respected eyewear designers in the world, I knew he was the only person who could realise this vision. We got to work on creating what we both felt was the true ultimate driving frame.”
