Detailed information on Omega Military Pocket Watch GSTP

This is a fine example of a wartime Omega military pocket watch, produced in 1943 and issued as a General Service Time Piece. The watch is fitted with a 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is running well. The movement is fully signed by Omega and carries the serial number 9,923,XXX correctly dating it to the wartime period.

The watch measures 52mm in diameter, excluding the winding crown and bow, giving it the purposeful presence typical of military pocket watches of this era. The nickel-plated case is in good honest condition, showing light surface wear consistent with age and service use. The snap-on case back is clearly stamped with the British military broad arrow (pheon), GSTP designation, and store code, confirming its role as a General Service Time Piece rather than a civilian model.

The white enamel dial is signed Omega and remains in very nice condition, with clear Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock. The original hands are present; they would originally have carried luminous infill, which has been removed over time, a common and expected feature on surviving wartime watches. The acrylic crystal shows some light nibbling at the lower edge, though this is minor and does not detract significantly from overall appearance or legibility.

Omega supplied a large number of watches to the British military during the Second World War, and GSTP-marked examples are particularly sought after for their robust construction, clarity, and direct historical association. This is an honest, unpolished military watch that retains its original character and markings.
