Kohi is exclusively designed by Najaf Rugs and hand-knotted in Afghanistan. The patterns are our own, a balance between Afghan weaving tradition and contemporary design. The knotting technique is centuries old. The design vocabulary is entirely of today. That tension is what makes Kohi sit differently to every other Afghan rug on the market.

The wool is what makes these rugs extraordinary. Hand-knotted from 100% hand-spun wool, the Kohi pile is among the softest you will find in any hand-knotted rug in the world. Not soft in spite of its quality, but because of it. The hand-spun wool has a natural lustre that shifts with the light, and subtle variations in tone and texture across the pile that make each piece unique even within the same pattern. It is something machine-made rugs can never offer. The construction is dense and durable, built to be lived on for decades.
