Detailed information on Mbuzi Stool

An authentic, handmade stool crafted from actual goat leather and local wood.

They stand about two feet tall, and come in dark or light colors. Choose whichever one fits your color scheme before checking out.

Here is their story:

When refugees arrive in the Kakuma Refugee camp, the first place they go is to a \"reception center.\" Here, they hope to receive a refugee ID and get processed and placed somewhere in the camp.

Unfortunately, it does not always go this smoothly. Similarly to the stories of people landing at an airport without a passport and remaining stuck in that airport, some refugees (due to bureaucratic processes or other regulation) remain stuck in the reception centers for days, months, or even years, unable even to seek refuge in the refugee camps.

Innocent, a refugee entrepreneur within the camp, took us to visit the reception center, where we met a man who had been stuck there for years selling these stools. He had been at his craft for a long time, and the stools looked, felt, and were solid. We immediately purchased them; each of your purchases gives this man business and all profits go to helping refugees like him.
