Bar Stool DS-515 looks like an unconventional upholstered stool, designed by the designer duo Greutmann Bolzern for de Sede. The refined substructure, the slender upholstery and the leather processing to its maximum perfection already hint at the high seating comfort.

Folded and concealed leather defines the delicate design, masterful leather stitching and sophisticated details. A textile insert in the back gives the chair a distinctive note, and the overall craftsmanship of the composition makes it a stylish companion at the dining table, in the office or in the conference room. Greutmann Bolzern

The design comes from the Greutmann Bolzern design studio, headed by Carmen Greutmann-Bolzern and Urs Greutmann. In 1984 Carmen Greutmann-Bolzern (1956) and Urs Greutmann (1959) founded the Greutmann Bolzern Design Studio in Zurich. Their collaboration dates back to university days. Structural engineering specialists jointly attended the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). She graduated as an interior designer, he as an industrial designer. Today the couple - along with a team of five colleagues - sketch, design and conceptualize in all areas of design. The office world is their most important field of activity. Lista and Belux are among the customers of the office furniture industry. In addition, the designer duo designs furniture, consumer goods and lamps for companies such as Audience Systems, Röthlisberger and Dietiker. The studio\'s works have been awarded several times. The Monâne rocking stool, developed by the couple for Dietiker, was awarded the Red Dot Award in 2001. Since 2003 Carmen and Urs Greutmann-Bolzern have shared a chair in product design at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Carmen and Urs Greutmann manage their own design studio in Zurich, where they design spaces and furnishings characterized by a particular formal and material clarity. This series of different sculptures, all belonging to a family, presents the play of exact and different coatings with little lightness. The results are universally usable seating options: indoor and outdoor; at the dining table, in the office, as a bar stool, to attract attention in the winter garden or as an unusual rocking chair. The DS-515 series allows a versatile and modular use without any cost for comfort: the leather upholstery, especially in COLLO leather, acts as a second skin.

De Sede has its origins in a small but skilled saddler’s shop in Klingnau, Switzerland. The team of artisans is committed to transforming the best possible leather into design seats. Their years of experience and diligence have enabled them to create unique quality handmade leather chairs, armchairs and sofas.

In 1965, the family-owned company became a joint stock company called de Sede AG, but remained true to the original guiding principles.

The company developed rapidly and from now on:

Sophisticated designs that cleverly integrate traditional and precise Swiss workmanship quickly earned the brand an international reputation.

Today, de Sede AG presents itself as a leading manufacturer of exclusive leather furniture. From the original small workshop, a company has emerged that employs over 110 people and distributes furniture to more than 69 countries, including the United States and Russia, GCC countries, and even emerging markets like China and Brazil.

They dedicated themselves entirely to production, to the work done by hand. With the refinement and perfection of craftsmanship they have cultivated since the company’s foundation, they can be assured that every piece of furniture they produce meets their extremely stringent and high-quality standards.

Their specialists ensure that all the leather they treat is of the best quality. Their leather cutting operation is staffed by specialized experts with a trained eye who spot any leather irregularities, planning production so that they are not visible in the finished piece of furniture. Sophisticated coating technology with modern materials also requires a high degree of knowledge and experience; this also flows into every piece of furniture made by de Sede. Their upholsterers are masters of their craft. To complete the production there are exact seams, some made by hand, which give De Sede products the status of unique objects.
