Still manufactured in Solingen Germany, Dovo has been manufacturing fine razors for over 100 years. Today, their razors combine classic craftsmaship with modern design resulting in razors that look as great as they perform.The 5/8 inch Full Hollow ground with round tip DOVO Barbarossa has been designed for the needs of barbers and all bearded men. The special feature of this straight razor is its short blade. It is particularly maneuverable and precise to control. Thus the user can shape and contour his beard with millimetre accuracy. The fine engraving of the famous bearded Emperor Barbarossa adds a beautiful flair to this unique razor. 

BLADE MATERIAL

This straight razor is made of carbon steel with the material number 1.2210, better known as silver steel. In order to achieve a hardness of approximately 61 HRC, the material is heated to over 1000 degrees celsius and then immediately quenched with a special oil. The subsequent tempering at about 200 degrees celsius gives the blade elasticity and toughness.

HANDLE MATERIAL

Expensive tortoise shell has been used since ancient times to make exquisite art and furniture. This rare material was highly sought after to decorate royal courts around the world. For our product line, we want to do our part to protect these majestic, endangered turtles. We work exclusively with an imitation of silk-matte polished acrylic glass.
