Tasting Notes: Peach · Apricot · Oolong Tea
This washed Ethiopia Limu is a quiet stunner. Delicate, clean, and deeply rooted in one of coffee’s most storied landscapes. Soft stone fruit sweetness leads the cup, with notes of ripe peach and apricot giving way to a refined, tea-like finish reminiscent of oolong. Balanced and expressive, this is a coffee that rewards slowing down.
Grown at 1900 meters above sea level in the Limu Seka district of the Jimma Zone, this coffee comes from thousands of smallholder farmers whose plots sit near the ancient highland forests where arabica coffee is believed to have first evolved. Coffees from this region are known for their clarity and gentle fruit character, an expression of both altitude and tradition.
The coffee is processed centrally by Fahem General Trading PLC, a family-run operation led by Ato Mohamed Lalo and his wife, who work closely with nearly 3,000 surrounding smallholders. Freshly harvested cherry is delivered daily, carefully depulped, fermented, washed, and dried on raised beds to preserve clarity and sweetness. Beyond coffee, Fahem reinvests in the local community through schools, infrastructure, and farmer support, ensuring the work here sustains both land and people.
This is a classic washed Ethiopia. Elegant, honest, and rooted in place. A reminder of why these coffees have shaped the world’s understanding of what coffee can be.
