Washed Process Finca Medina


For over 20 years, we’ve been proud to partnerwith Finca Medina in Antigua, Guatemala.Nestled among three volcanoes, Acatenango,Fuego, and Agua, the city of Antigua was oncethe capital of the Spanish Empire in CentralAmerica, but it’s now known for stunningcolonial architecture and the nearby farms thatproduce some of the region’s highest-qualitycoffee.Antigua’s climate, high altitude, fertile volcanicsoils, and a distinct agricultural tradition makethis city an ideal location for producers likeFinca Medina, a company that has beenproducing quality coffee since 1842.Located in the village of San Lorenzo El Cubo, inthe region of Ciudad Vieja, Finca Medinaincludes two estates, one named after theorganization itself and the other called AnexoPortal. At both farms, the staff implements someof the most modern processing technologywe’ve seen in Latin America, contributing toeach coffee’s consistency and quality. Inaddition, Finca Medina has been a member ofthe Antigua Coffee Producers Association since2000 and maintained a focus on producingRainforest Alliance-certified coffees in recentyears.This estate coffee includes cherries from theoriginal Finca Medina estate plus Anexo Portal, aproperty that was acquired in 2016. Afterseparating the floating cherries, staff membersdry the coffee on the property\'s courtyards andcontinuously turn it with large wooden paddlesfor a uniform drying cycle before preparing thecoffee for shipment.
