The Cartier \"Colisée\" presents a bold new look compared to Cartier\'s established codes, which have traditionally excelled in shaped watches. Original in its round case and integrated horizontal lugs, it can be an alternative to the Maison\'s more classic and simpler models.
The Colosseum was released in the classic range (solid gold) and in the Must range. Here, we have the perfect piece to illustrate the Must range: a vermeil case (gold-plated silver), a more affordable price compared to the classic range, and a truly original dial. A black lacquered dial with gold hands and markings: only the Roman numerals appear at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o\'clock, the other hours being indicated by diamonds.
The bracelet on the watch needs to be replaced: the change is included in the price and Françoise will be happy to assist you in choosing your new custom-made bracelet.
How to wear it?
Françoise particularly likes the geometric feel of this watch: its rounded case and horizontal lugs that appear to simply rest on the watch. Its compact size, despite its rather striking design, makes it a perfect complement to any outfit: on a black strap to tone it down or a colorful one to make a statement.
Why did Françoise choose her?
Françoise is very fond of the Colisée collection, which is nevertheless overlooked by many collectors. The upside of this injustice, in Françoise\'s eyes, is that it makes it a Cartier that you don\'t see on every wrist! This version with its black dial and gold accents is particularly elegant.
History
The \"Must de Cartier\" collection was launched in 1973 by Robert Hocq and Alain-Dominique Perrin, who was appointed General Manager of this new entity.
This creative approach not only allowed the House of Cartier to expand its offering but also to offer a more accessible and unconventional range, thus democratizing the luxury sector while retaining its codes.
Following lighters, pens, and leather goods, it was the Must watch\'s turn to make its debut in 1976/77. The Tank in vermeil was the first to appear, bearing the inscription \"Must de Cartier\" and the two \"C\"s on the dial. Although the first models were made with a manual movement, quartz quickly became the standard for these everyday, easy-to-wear watches.
Unlike Cartier watches in yellow gold, those in the Must line, in silver, vermeil, or steel, offer a very wide variety of cases and dials. Sometimes colorful, sometimes adorned with geometric patterns, these designs breathe new life into classic models.
