They range in hardness and refinement capabilities with a wide range of potential performance characteristics depending on the type. There are 10+ different types of Iyoto which are currently being produced. This type is called Ko Kuro Aka or Black and Red. This piece displays a Vividly contrasting pattern and color scheme. A much more firm and fine example, which is typical for this type. This piece displays fine performance characteristics and can be used as a pre finishing stone for razors.
