This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 145 mm (5.71 inches) long × 88 mm (3.46 inches) wide × 19 mm (0.75 inches) tall, and weighs 555 g (19.58 oz / 1.22 lbs).

Hardness: 4.6Old stock Nakayama Hon Tomae with dark yellow/beige base. This semi hard stone is exceptionally smooth and easy to use. In affordable razor size, this is a great performer at a great price! This piece, although a bit more drab in color, performs at an extremely high level. This piece is extremely easy going and user friendly. Would make a great stone for a beginner looking for a higher performance, easy to use stone. This stone is best served as being used as a standalone hone for final finishing of razors. It\'s self slurry is released when firm pressure is exerted. Using firmer pressure, the stone\'s grit rich, self slurry is released into the mixture of swarf and creates a fast cutting, high polishing elixir. This mixture can be worked with less pressure to break down the existing particles. this process of breaking down the slurry results in an extremely keen, comfortable shaving edge. A straightforward stone, packed full of performance. Would be great for knives and tools as well. An extremely versatile stone!
